Cocobowl Care 101

These Are The Steps We Take To Make Sure Our Cocobowls Last

Our cocobowls are made from recycled coconut shells, which means no two bowls are alike, and they require a little extra TLC to keep them in working order.  Following a few simple Do's and Dont's will help your Cocobowls last.

Do...

Wash By Hand Only

We hand wash our bowls with warm and water and let them air dry.  It is okay to soak the inside of the bowls for 10-15 minutes if any food is stuck inside, then use a soft sponge to wipe clean and rinse.

Oil Your Bowls Between Uses

This doesn't have to be done between every use, but after 5-10 uses, your bowls should be oiled with coconut oil.  Read more about how to Oil Your Cocobowls on this post.

Don't...

Expose To Extreme Temps

Cocobowls are not meant to be used with extremely hot foods.  A warm oatmeal or Buddha bowl should be okay, but piping hot soups or steaming foods should not be put in the bowls - let them cool off a little first.

Put Cocobowls In The Fridge/Freezer

It can be tempting to pour your smoothie bowl into your Cocobowl and then place it in the freezer to keep it cold while you prepare your toppings, but the extreme cold and dry air can cause the bowls to crack.  Tip: Prep your toppings first before blending and have them ready to put on your smoothie bowl right away so you can enjoy it immediately (before it melts)!

Heat In The Microwave Or Wash In The Dishwasher

We think this goes without saying, but still wanted to shout it out... Cocobowls and spoons are not microwave or dishwasher safe ;)

Overall, Cocobowls are extremely easy to care for, you just have to remember that they are made from coconut shells are need to be treated a little differently from regular bowls.  We have been using our Cocobowls for years and have been happy with how long they've lasted with regular use (and a little TLC every now and then).  We hope this info helps you keep your bowls look and feeling like new!
